After the 911 tragedy, New York resident and fashion designer Barbara Hirsh, had a dream of designing jacket to sell to raise funds for the Bravest Fund. Below are some photos which tell the story of the jacket so far. And enjoy the photos of this amazing project.
Here is Barbara Hirsh in October of 2002, with Senator Cochrane, presenting one of her jackets to President Bush.
Here is a photo of one of the jackets that was framed and shown in a Fireman's museum in New York. You can see the detailed image of three firefighters raising the U.S. Flag, which is embossed into the leather on the back of the jacket.
This original black leather jacket (shown above) is made by Barbara Anne Hirsh in commemoration of the people and events of September 11, 2001. This jacket is a one of a kind special edition design made specifically for John Regan, FDNY firefighter (Harlem Fire Factory, Engine 58, ladder 11). It was loaned to Willa Ford immediately after 9/11 for a benefit concert regarding the event. Only one other original jacket was made. A new limited edition of a version of this jacket is available to order now. return to Barbara Hirsh.com main page.
